Jessica James is a freelance fashion illustrator and designer living and working in Lagos, Nigeria.
Sketching has always been something she was good at from a really young age and she believes that was a catalyst for her foray into fashion.
She says “It has been a long journey as when I started, I’m not sure ‘fashion illustration’ was recognized or even seen as a career option in this part of the world”.
After graduating from University, she secured an internship at April by Kunbi which later turned into an actual job. Being able to witness first hand how the fashion industry works proved to be an invaluable experience for her.
Being a fashion illustrator has been very rewarding, and what she loves the most is working for different brands and projects as everyday is some new experience or challenge.
